DEPARTMENT OF PETROLEUM ENGINEERING
Guru Kashi University is first university in Punjab which offering high technology job oriented degree and diploma course in petroleum engineering for the young talents aspiring for challenging career. GKU offering four year degree course in petroleum engineering and three year diploma course in petrochemicals & petro refinery engineering in order to meet the present and future demand of trained and skilled manpower in Downstream, Upstream and Chemical Process Industries. The Department of Petroleum Engineering has excellent infrastructural facilities for training students in this interdisciplinary program.
The Guru Gobind Singh Refinery (GGSR) is located in village Phulokheri, Bathinda, Punjab, India. It is a refinery owned by HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) a joint venture. The work for refinery started in 1998 and the refinery commissioned in 2010. Its annual capacity is nine million tons. This is great hope for the students of Guru Kashi University that they will get better job opportunities in their own region as far as the field of downstream is concerned.Some features of this course are as given below:
- Guru Kashi University is one of few universities in the country to offer this unique course.
- Intake for every academic year is 60 students.
- Students have the opportunity to get employment in downstream and upstream sectors.
- Training and Placement cell of the university has been effectively carrying out interaction with the industry by conducting seminars, group discussions, lecture series etc.
- The students completed degree and diploma courses from Guru Kashi University has good opportunities in famous industries like Trident Group, IOCL, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Bathinda Chemicals Ltd., National Fertilizers Ltd., HMEL Refinery, PRAJ, HONEYWELL, TOYO, WIPRO, ESSAR, RELIANCE, GAIL, THERMAX, GSPC and CAIRN.
