DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
The Department of civil Engineering, GURU KASHI UNIVERSITY, Talwandi Sabo, is devoted to give the best knowledge and guidance to the students with qualified & experienced faculty. Our aim is to lay stress on the new techniques in the field of design by working out new experiments and researches with concrete in order to build the strongest, aesthetical and earth quake resistance structures. Our importance is given to innovative thinking and new ideas to boost up the research activities to create excellence, so as to bring maximum consultancy and sponsored research projects. Civil Engineering Department, understands the importance of preparing engineering students in this fast running and competitive world.

The department has well furnished Lecture Halls & Tutorial Rooms to give the students a conducive environment for learning. A seminar hall with all the modern technical audio-visual aids, such as L.C.D. Projector, O.H.P. and many more, are provided by the department. As per the course curriculum of GKU, there are the following laboratories in the department:
Solid Mechanics Lab (SM Lab)
SM lab includes the different types of machines for testing the strength of engineering materials, used in various applications. The machines like Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Impact Testing Machine, Hardness Testing Machine etc. are available in the lab.
Fluid Mechanics Lab (FM lab)
FM lab is the one of important lab for students in the civil engineering course which includes the Study of Pipe Fittings, Orifice & Mouthpiece Apparatus, Bernoulli's Theorem Apparatus, Meta-centric Height, Friction In Pipe Lines, Notches, etc. and many other experiments related to fluids (especially water), as water is the key element for construction.
Survey Lab consist of the different types of equipments used for surveying which includes the dumpy levels, auto levels, tachometers, theodolites, plane tables, chains, steel tapes, alidades, etc. These instruments are used for different types of surveying such as traversing surveying, triangulation, two-point problems, three-point problems by plane table surveying, measuring of horizontal and vertical angles, rise and fall methods of leveling, fly leveling, contouring of an area, etc.
